Cristina Meehan, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Cristina started Liberty Integrated Behavioral Health in 2019 with the vision to provide mental health care that is accessible, flexible and individualized. Cristina is a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and provides treatment to individuals across the life span. She specializes in symptom management through psychoeducation and psychopharmacology. Cristina helps individuals understand the physiological responses to stress and trauma with extensive training and certifications in EMDR treatment. She has lectured on stress management and increasing resiliency throughout the state, at grand rounds through the Department of Children and Families, Women’s Consortium, local community events, and first responders. Cristina also provides consultation for newer nurse practitioners looking for additional guidance and support.

Dr. Jay Berkowitz, MD, Psychiatrist

Dr. Berkowitz is licensed by The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with over 32 years of experience. Dr. Berkowitz has a wide array of experience treating individuals with acute and chronic mental health disorders and symptoms. He has held the position of Medical Director in a variety of settings including in-patient programs, correctional facilities, substance use treatment centers, long-term care facilities, and community health centers. He is well known throughout the state of Connecticut for his specialty and expertise in working with mental health disorders effecting older adults to promote healthy aging strategies and increasing access to quality mental health care. National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) honored Dr. Berkowitz with the Exemplary Psychiatrist Award in his efforts to improve the lives of people living with mental health conditions.

Dr. Alexia Cortella, PMHNP-BC/DNP

Alexia is board certified through the ANCC as a psychiatric nurse practitioner and earned her doctorate in nursing practice from Fairfield University. Alexia specializes in treating children, adolescents and adults to improve mental health symptoms. She incorporates individuals sociocultural, biological, behavioral, and environmental needs into treatment. Alexia utilizes her training in trauma informed care and EMDR processing when working with children and adolescences struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, irritability, family and school related concerns.

Stacia Heller, LCSW

Stacia has been a licensed clinical social worker for over 20 years. Stacia has worked in a variety of settings helping individuals from adolescence throughout adulthood. Stacia tailors her therapeutic approach by working with individual’s trauma history, triggers, and specific needs to create a collaborative relationship. Stacia has been trained in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) which she utilizes to help individuals develop healthy ways to cope with stress, explore emotions around grief and loss, and improve healthy relationships and communication with others. Stacia supports individuals’ autonomy and choices and encourages growth through life change by exploring resilient strategies to better navigate challenges and adapt in uncertain and difficult times.

Andrew Benevento, LCSW, CCM

Andrew is a Licensed Clinical Social worker who is actively pursuing his doctorate degree in social work. Andrew specializes in couples counseling focusing on increasing emotional openness and effective communication skills. Andrew also has a passion for men’s mental health, guiding difficult conversations by increasing coping and allowing a understanding environment to express emotions, fears, and struggles. Andrew’s approach to care is addressing individualized  goals by considering their thoughts, feelings, and experiences to optimize well-being and success.

Angela Andrade, LCSW

Angela is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 15 years of experience in helping others to discover their strengths and empowering her clients to overcome challenges and navigate life changes. She has a background in working with individuals with multiple behavioral and mental health diagnoses in multidisciplinary settings. She specializes in working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, grief and trauma. Her approach is holistic, incorporating various therapeutic techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), tailored to each client's unique needs. Through a collaborative therapeutic relationship and a strengths-based perspective, Angela works alongside her clients to develop effective coping strategies, enhance self-awareness and cultivate resilience.
